Are you starving to discover latest app designs and trends?

If yes, you have landed to the right place!

Mobile apps business is at the peak in the today’s era of IT industry. It is taking a hike by introducing the most amazing trends which help you create an engaging and intuitive user interface for mobile apps.

Also, mobile app needs advancement in the UI design so as to one keep up one with the expected standards in a particular field.

In this blog, I have streamlined the most working trends of the year which collaboratively produce an effective UI for a better user experience.

1. UX over UI

UI is the user interface of any mobile app which is overlooked more in favor of UX. To add on to the user experience, we can use UI pattern libraries and is also considered as the fundamental need of app designs.

A better UX takes only seconds to convince the app user regarding the details of the app. UX gives a broader concept about the app structure so as to make it more communicable to the user who is interacting with app screens.

For example, Dribble App shows the UX functionality over UI, to showcase artwork of different graphic designers, web designers, illustrators and many others

2. Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/ AR)

Virtual reality (VR) is an artificial, computer-generated simulation or recreation of a real-life environment or situation. Whereas the Augmented reality layers computer-generated enhancements atop an existing reality in order to make it more meaningful through the ability to interact with it.

Both technologies enable experiences that are becoming more commonly expected for entertainment purposes. While in the past it was merely a figment of imagination or fictitious, a new world has come to life under user’s control with the blend of these two technologies.

For example, the computer-animated short film Allumette served as a great example of how virtual reality can create new ways to tell stories on screen.

3. Hidden Navigation

In this, the main navigation links are placed under an icon or a button where an explicit user action is required to be displayed. This pattern can be particularly useful if you want your user to focus on the main content.

Hidden navigation is less discoverable and it can free up some space by shifting some options off the screen into a side menu.

For example, Hamburger menu allows you to hide the navigation beyond the left edge of the screen and reveal it only after a user’s actions. The hidden context is only visible when the person clicks on the icon.

4. Wearable Devices Technology

When we discuss app designs, it’s not only about the app design for tablets or mobile. Wearable technology has resulted in as a brand new face for the upcoming design trends. Wearable devices are the most amazing among the UX/UI designs.

It proves that UX designs are adopted by different forms of mobile technology.

For example, Apple watches showcase how there is hope fulfillment in the expected mobile app and UI design trends.

5. UI with Gestures

2017 and beyond may be the time when we see the forming of uniformity in gesture implementation, just like with laptop touch pad. Gestures are a blended combination of touch mechanics (what fingers do on the screen) and touch activities (the result of specific gestures).

Gesture education helps users understand how to interact with a specific element, like swiping a card, for the first time.

For example, you can pinch open and pinch close the screen with two fingers to zoom in and zoom out respectively. In regards to this, there are many other gestures with different functions.

6. Touch ID

It is referred as the fingerprint biometric identity to let the device know who you are. It is responsible to authorize the online purchase and unlocking the device viz. iPad, Mac or iPhone.

It seems to be more convenient and favorable to use, rather than a password or PIN to lock your device. It is noticeable that it gives a different perspective on app design security and trends.

For example, the Apple’s iPhone home button makes the Touch ID sensor to enable security.

7. Parallax Design

Parallax scrolling is a cool design concept that is making its way into the mobile design world. In parallax scrolling there are multiple layers of images stacked on top of each other moving at the different rates gives 2D visual a 3D effect.

The layer movement gives the illusion that the foreground and background elements are rotating around a center point adding to the richness and immersive feeling of application’s experience.

For example, you can see the parallax effect in the GIF below implemented with multiple layers scrolling down one by one.

8. Micro interactive and Minimalist Design

Not only the complex UI designs or visual feedback but also the micro interactive designs make sense and give a positive user experience. This is proven by the tiny effects and designs in the mobile apps which are highly interactive in nature.

No wonder, that minimalism is still trendy. The complex reduction of UI design is still the primary task of any designer. A good and minimal usability design can make your app more communicative.

For example, you can see the share button in the GIF file below. It gives multiple functionalities to share on number of social media platform to make it more creative and usable.
