Challenge 1: Manual Prescription Data Entry Led to Errors and Delays

Pharmacists had to manually input prescription details from scanned images or handwritten notes (into their inventory software Brightree), which increased the risk of transcription errors and slowed the processing time.

Solution: Glorywebs implemented an OCR-powered prescription parser using Tesseract.js, integrated with a custom validation engine that cross-checked drug names, dosages, and patient histories in real-time. We directly integrated the solution into their Brightree database. This reduced data entry time and improved accuracy by over 70%.

Challenge 2: Lack of Real-Time Inventory Visibility Caused Fulfillment Bottlenecks

The existing system didn’t sync inventory in real time, leading to missed stockouts, over-ordering, and last-minute delays in fulfilling prescriptions.

Solution: We built a real-time inventory management module using MongoDB change streams and Socket.io, enabling live updates across the prescription and stock management interfaces. This allowed pharmacists to monitor inventory status instantly and improved fulfillment planning.

Challenge 3: Complex Insurance Verification Delayed Billing and Increased Errors

Verifying insurance details manually led to slow billing cycles, frequent mismatches, and increased dependency on external coordination. This affected prescription processing time and caused billing delays for patients.

Solution: Glorywebs integrated a real-time insurance eligibility API into the system, enabling automatic insurance checks during prescription entry. The platform instantly validated patient coverage, co-payments, and formulary restrictions, ensuring accurate billing before fulfillment.

Challenge 4: Duplicate Billing and Prescription Regeneration Issues

The existing system lacked safeguards against re-processing the same prescription, leading to duplicate bills or the need to regenerate prescription entries for corrections manually.

Solution: We implemented a prescription lifecycle tracker with unique identifiers and smart audit logs. Combined with a version-controlled billing module, the system prevented duplicate submissions and allowed authorized edits with full traceability—eliminating redundancy and reducing errors.
